20.07.2021

Environment is one of the four fundamental values of the AGC Group, transmitting that every entity and every employee shall contribute to the creation of a sustainable society in harmony with nature. As a part of this approach, AGC Obeikan Glass targets sustainable development using the best available technologies from the environmental point of view.

In April 2021 Cradle to CradleTM Bronze was achieved for AGC Obeikan Glass high-performance double silver magnetron coated glass products manufactured in the state-of-the-art facility in Yanbu, Saudi Arabia.

The Cradle to Cradle Certified™ products program is the world’s most advanced multi-stakeholder standard for designing and making products for the circular economy. It is an approach which evaluates a product’s overall sustainability across its entire life cycle. It expands the definition of design quality to include positive effects on economic, ecological and social health. To obtain certification, the product must meet strict standards in five categories related to health and environmental protection. These categories are Material Health, Material Reutilization, Renewable Energy & Carbon Management, Water Stewardship and Social Fairness.  Product receives achievement level – Basic, Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum - in each of these five categories and the lowest achievement level represents the product’s overall mark.

AGC Obeikan Glass magnetron coated double silver glass products Stopray Vision-40T, Stopray Vision-51T, Stopray Vision-72T, Stopray Titanium—34T and Stopray Ace-30T obtained Platinum level in Material Health. Full Product Scorecard is available on the Cradle to Cradle Certified Products Registry.

In July 2021 in cooperation with GCAS Quality Certifications (Dubai, UAE) AGC Obeikan Glass has obtained Environmental Product Declaration (EPD), certified by the International EPD System (Stockholm, Sweden). The International EPD System is the world’s first and longest operational EPD programme, originally founded in 1998 as the Swedish EPD System by the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA) and industry. It complies with the ISO 21930 and EN 15804 standards for the building and construction sector. Full EPD report is available on the EPD Library of the International EPD System.
